The MMR High Performance Intercooler for the N55-powered BMW 335i E9x improves power and torque output significantly by substantially reducing charge air temperatures versus the OE cooling setup.
With the right modifications, the N55 straight-six is more than capable of producing substantial power, but the additional heat that generates is often enough to overwhelm the standard cooling setup, showing up as serious power losses during hard driving as air temperatures soar, and long recovery cool-down times needed.
The MMR Performance High Performance Intercooler is a direct-fit replacement unit that uses a super-efficient bar-and-plate core specifically engineered to support maximum performance gains on BMW 335i/335xi/135i and 1M models.
The high-flow optimised cast end tanks, combined with the enlarged core volume delivers average intake temperature reductions of around 20ºC and typically adds around 20bhp even when running standard boost pressure.
Our development focussed on finding the ‘sweet spot’ of maximum IAT cooling versus minimum pressure loss. This has allowed us to achieve increased size without increased lag.
